Our bamboo silk is sourced and woven by Liahren, China's leading eco-friendly textiles factory.
Liahren has been in business for more than 35 years. It specialises in developing new eco-friendly fabrics and uses its advanced machines and production lines to make not just bamboo viscose but other semi-synthetic materials including modal and tencel, both of which are made from wood cellulose.
Bamboo is fast-growing and doesn't require chemicals like pesticides or fertilisers to flourish. The plants we use are grown organically (Ecocert certified).
The soft fibrous pulp from inside the bamboo plants is chemically extracted (hydrolysis-alkalization and multiphase bleaching) then washed and spun into yarn. But our extraction processes uses a "closed loop" system which recirculates chemicals, dramatically reducing environmental impact compared with regular chemical extraction.
Our bamboo silk from Liahren is Okeo-Tex 100 certified, which ensures that the finished fabric is skin-safe and free of nasty chemicals.
