Manufacture by Katty Fashion
Katty Fashion in Iasi, Romania makes much of our clothing. It takes our high-quality, organic fabrics and produces the garments from them: carefully cutting, stitching, ironing, checking and packing each piece.
It also sends the cut panels to a local supplier to print care instructions inside, so we don't have to use uncomfortable care labels which are usually synthetic and add to the carbon footprint.
Katty Fashion came highly recommended to us by the Ethical Fashion forum who are a B2B platform for ethically minded businesses.
Phannatiq works closely with the team at Katty Fashion to ensure that designs new and old are graded into the correct sizings and produced to our exacting standards.
We seek to minimise waste, so our useable fabric scraps are sent to Romania-based REDU, which transforms them into our new phannatiq baby clothes and even the tiny pieces get sent to another factory to be made into cushion stuffing.

The office where they keep in touch with us, plan and manage the manufacturing
In addition to the fabrics, we send them samples which are used to inform them how to sew the garments. These are usually made from random fabrics and are just for reference
A spec sheet is also made to supplement the garment and provide any further information including amounts per size and colour. Patterns are digitised, graded (made in all the sizes) and sent via email
Sometimes we send paper patterns for them to digitise and sometimes grade, if this is the case they may have queries or need to check they are using the correct grading rules so they email screenshots of the digital patterns for us to look at
They then make a production sample, which they send over for us to look at and approve. Sometimes it's perfect first time but sometimes we have to send it back with notes for improvement or some changes that have become necessary. If this happens they often send photos to save time and energy or show us via skype
When everything is completely approved they can start the cutting out. The back panels are sent to the print place to have their labels printed.
Then all the panels are rolled up in bundles and placed ready to be sewn
The garments are sewn and pressed. Seams are inspected throughout the process.
Finally they are packaged and sent to us in London ready to be shipped to all corners of the world!
